Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology

This department works under the supervision of a group of consultants who are qualified either by M.D. from Egyptian universities or by M.R.C.P. (U.K).

Dr.Zakaria Ismail,MD, Dr.Moustafa Abdel Ghany,MRCP(UK), Dr.Ahmed El Badry,MD, and Dr.Mahmoud Haggag,DM, have special skills in treating hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, various heart diseases, diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, chest diseases, liver, gastro-intestinal and blood diseases.

Cardio-pulmonary Lab.:       Provides one of the most comprehensive programs, available for patients with cardiovascular diseases.  In addition to diagnostic non-invasive testing, patient receives assessment, diagnosis and planning the non-invasive cardiac tool to diagnose a variety of cardiac disorders e.g. valves, muscles of heart, possible congenital heart diseases, etc.

The services offered are:          

• Electrocardiogram

• Trans-thoracic echocardiogram for heart assessment.

• Trans-esophageal echocardiogram for heart assessment. 

• Treadmill exercise electrocardiogram for detection of ischemic heart disease.

• 24-48 hours E.C.G monitoring (Holter electrocardiogram)

• 24-48 hours ambulatory BP monitoring

• Spirometry

• Vitolograph

• Lung Function Tests

General Surgery Department

This department performs all modern major and minor surgeries, as well as fine major laparoscopic surgeries by well-experienced team of surgeons.

Vascular surgery service with variety of vascular procedures performed by Dr. Ayman Essawy, Consultant Vascular Surgeon.  

Pediatric surgery service is available and performed by Dr. Abdel Moniem Azab.

A newly added to our team in Laparoscopic surgery is Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon, performs in variety of modern laparoscopic procedures.  

Laser surgeries are performed in our hospital by all our experienced team of consultant surgeons.

Laser surgery is followed by less post-operative pain, swelling, fibrosis and tolerance by the patient.

Laser surgeries include:

• Anal procedures; haemorrhoidectomy, fissurectomy, fistulectomy etc.

• Removal of skin polyps and tumors

• As part of other major surgical procedures e.g. hepatectomy.

• All our surgery teams of consultants are men of updating all the new technology procedures.

Urology Department

All operative and endoscopic urologic procedures are performed under the care of well-experienced Urology Consultants.  

A lithotripsy unit (ESWL) is attached to this dept.

Orthopedic Surgery Department

The department includes well-experienced staff surgeons (One Orthopedic Consultant and Two Specialists).

The department is well equipped with up-to-date equipments to perform major surgeries, and manages the following:

• Fixation of all fractures.

• Diagnosis and treatment of knee injuries by arthroscopy.

• Our Pediatric Orthopedic Consultant is treating a variety of children. 

• Orthopedic problems such as:

  • Congenital dislocation of hips.

  • Congenital foot deformities (club feet).

  • Limping and gait problems.

  • Leg lengthening.

  • Reconstruction of various limb deformities.

A large ward is designated for the management of orthopedic cases.

Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery Department

The department is equipped to treat post-burn and post-traumatic deformities; congenital anomalies of the face, ears and hands; congenital anomalies of the male genital tract; other plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures such as Facelift and Blepharoplasy; Rhinoplasty; Breast reduction, augmentation and Mastopexy; Abdominoplsty; Liposuction.

New services have been introduced to Plastic Surgery Department such as:

• Fat injection:

For augmentation of lips, cheeks and other facial defects.

• Hairs transplantation:

For treatment of baldness.

• Microsurgery:

For re-plantation of amputated fingers and free flap surgery.

Rheumatology and Physical Medicine Department  

This was the first Rheumatology department established in Saudi Arabia and headed by an eminent University Professor who is Internationally recognized.  He conducted a good number of advanced research projects and produced many articles, which were published in Europe, United States and Japan.

Manpower: 

A team of highly qualified, competent and energetic Rheumatology Resident, Physiotherapy Specialist, Rheumatology Nurses and Technicians.  Five males and 6 females, from USA, Egypt, Philippines and India.

Equipments:

The department is well equipped with the most updated machines and facilities to provide a wide scope of best quality care/ services for inpatients and outpatients. 

• Musculoskeletal ultrasound research unit, bone osteoporosis research unit.

• Machines for treatment with short wave, ultrasonic, faradic, galvanic currents, infrared and ultra-violet rays.

• Individualized private rooms for male and female patients.

• Jacuzzi, Steam Room and Sauna Room.

• Large Gymnasium equipped with computerized treadmills, bicycles, lower limbs ergometers and two units of 4 in one body exercises.

• Spine and cervical traction.

• Computerized densometer for bone mass assessment.

Future Plan:

• A specialized designed miniature room for Pediatric Rheumatology.

• Occupational rehabilitation for patients with back pain and Rheumatic disorders.

Obstetric & Gynecology Department

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology offer a wide range of services to women of all ages.  It has outpatient & inpatient services.  Routine screenings, checkups & diagnostic workups are available.  A large number of the present youth population of the eastern province was born in Dr. Fakhry & Al-Rajhi Hospital.  Well-qualified Obstetricians/Gynecologists, certified nurse midwives & registered nurse practitioners provide a full range of obstetric & gynecological care.

Complete obstetric care is available, including:

• Premarital counseling

• Pre-pregnancy counseling

• Antenatal, intrapartum & post-natal care

• Ultrasound evaluation

• Normal, instrumental & Cesarean delivery.

• Obstetric analgesia & anesthesia.

Gynecological services for cases including:

• Infertility, chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis

• Abnormal bleeding, premenstrual syndrome, menopause

• Family planning & contraception

• Pelvic infections

• Adolescent gynecology

All types of classical & laparoscopic surgeries of the female reproductive tract are performed.

Pediatric & Neonatal Medicine Department

  This department provides care to neonates, infants & children.  The department includes:

1. Nursery unit, which provides observation & care to healthy neonates.

2. Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) which is well equipped with ventilators, monitors & incubators for care & management of all premature & critically ill full term neonates.

3. Pediatric intensive care unit with monitors & ventilators for critically ill infants & children.

4. Pediatric ward for care & management of all infants & children up to 12 years.

Outpatient department (OPD) which includes clinics for providing services to all pediatric age groups including general pediatrics & many special pediatric services as pediatric endocrinology, pediatric cardiology & pediatric hematology in addition to follow up of high-risk infants & providing all types of vaccination.

Ophthalmology Department

Comprehensive eye care for eyes diseases.

Glaucoma, cataract, squint, retinal diseases and contact lens application are available in outpatient.

Cataract surgery with intra ocular lens implantation, glaucoma, squint and lacrimal surgeries are available.  The clinics are equipped with ultra modern equipments, beside ARGON and YAG lasers for treatment of selected cases and automated field for some eye and neurological diseases.

Dermatology, Venereal Diseases, Andrology & Male Infertility Department

Deals with skin diseases, venereal diseases and treats male infertility; helped by up-to-date equipments and sophisticated laboratory investigations as hormonal assays, etc.

Andrology clinic provides the following services:

• Premarital examination.

• Investigations and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.

• Investigations of male infertility including semen analysis, hormonal assays and anti-sperm antibodies, etc.

• Treatment of sexual disorders including impotence and premature ejaculation, etc.

• Performing surgical procedures for male infertility such as varicocelectomy, testicular biopsy, etc.

• Histopathological examination of testicular biopsy.

• Evaluation and treatment of sexual disorders in females.
